If you've been reading this blog all summer, thanks!
If you're a teacher just checking in on your first day back at work, welcome back! If you're like me, you're feeling a little stunned right now to be both "back" before Labor Day, and under the pressure of APPR and Common Core.
Thanks to Ryan Case's help, we have a theme song to go along with today's blog post. Although, I must say that he and I had a debate about which is a better song, Under Pressure, by Queen; or Pressure, by Billy Joel. To weigh in on the debate, please email me at
ccohen(at)wbschools(dot)org. Realize, of course, there is no prize for your participation, you'll just be entertaining me with your response and hopefully proving one of us right. (hopefully me)
As I shared once on the eboard, the predecessor to this blog, I secretly love the first day of the new school year. I love the smell of the new school supplies, the look and feel of freshly sharpened pencils, and all the promise that a blank plan book holds. So while we are under greater pressure this year than ever before, I wish you all a great first day, even if this is just the calm before the storm.
