The Common Core Learning Standards call for more instruction on academic vocabulary.  Here is an article on using picture books to spice up vocabulary instruction. What I particularly like about this piece, is the mention of Eve Feldman's picture book, Billy and Milly, Short and Silly!   On March 5, I wrote on this blog,  "Author, Eve Feldman invited me to my first Children's Literature Conference.   As a result of attending that conference, I joined an organization for writers. As a result of joining that organization, I met great people, had articles published, got a picture book contract and formed a writing-critique group with women I met at a workshop."   So finding an article that mentions Eve and enhances Common Core lessons, was a win-win for me.

Happy reading,
Christine
