On March 13, I posted this about the importance of school libraries.
Children's librarian extraordinaire, Grace Kiernan, uses music and media to motivate students to learn  the Dewey Decimal system.  With her third graders, she uses a Dewey Decimal song that she made up.  With her sixth-graders, she uses the YouTube video, Dewey Decimal Rap.  After viewing the video, students are assigned a section of the decimal system to write their own rap about.  For example, students assigned the 900s, geography and history, would create a rap about finding books on those topics in the library.

Happy reading,
Christine
