Yesterday, Carol sent this lovely response to my blog post.  She asked me to share her thoughts with you here:
In Response
This dreary, rainy morning, I woke to find a heartfelt post on Christine’s Literacy Connection Blog that brightened the day. It is truly a humbling experience to read about yourself and your career path and I am grateful for the time Christine and other educators took to comment on my new journey.
Although I am retiring from this position, I am not from the field of education where I have been for thirty-five years. The journey has been one filled with twists and turns. I have traveled bumpy paths that needed careful transversing and smooth roads that led to growth as an educator. Along the way, I have been fortunate to meet educators who paved new paths for me and those whom I helped cross bridges. I honor all those memories and the countless educators who have impacted teaching and learning.
Many noted writers have commented on the joys of teaching. For me, as well as others, one of the greatest joys is watching students blossom and grow as learners. Equally as important, is the opportunity to work collegially with teams of dedicated and bright educators to establish a culture of collegiality, achievement, and reflection. I will continue on my journey with the constant reminder that I have been blessed by those around me who willingly open their doors to invite change into their classrooms.
Thank you, Carol.
Happy reading,
